As I suspected when I started this blog, people really ARE trying to find out how to start a business in Malaysia because they just don’t know how. We don’t have any many sources of local information for the budding entrepreneur or the hopeful small/ medium business owner.
Even for this blog, which only averages somewhere around 40-50 visitors a day (very low I know…) there are still quite a few search queries from Google and Yahoo which help land onto my site.

Have a look, people want to know how to start restaurants and shoe businesses and especially how to register a sole proprietorship in Malaysia. The demand for information to starting a business in Malaysia is there but it seems there aren’t many places to supply that information.
Because of this, I have created a business forum to let people share, along with myself, business advice and solutions for people who don’t know. The forum is called The Business Suit – Everything You Need To Start A Business In Malaysia and can be located at www.onlinebusinessmalaysia.com or www.TheBusinessSuit.com.

Why have 2 domain names I hear you ask? The reason is simple, it’s for Google/ Yahoo/ MSN’s sake. Search engines like it when the search term people are looking for are somewhere in the URL that you are writing the content on. Although it’s not necessary, it does help a lot, hence the ‘onlinebusinessmalaysia’ domain name. Which has the keywords ‘Malaysia’ and ‘Business’ in it and will help me rank hire in these keywords.
But just having a web name with the keywords in it doesn’t mean your job is done. It’s still about the content and optimizing it for search engines, and making sure you have decent server hosting to hold all of your information.
I will still be updating this blog, but my hope for the forum is for it to become a complete one stop solution for business questions. I can only write so much in my blog but I’m sure there are much more informed business minds out there who could share information with people. It’s also a place where I hope people will stop and ask questions about any type of business.
So I hope anyone landing here would share any useful business starting information with all the other visitors. The site will be completely up and running soon because I’m still making some tweaks to it.

I have a carpet cleaning business in Houston,TX that was doing pretty good until the economy went bad, and with it my clientele. I have a website for the business but I dont
know what I have to do the get it to show up in a search. Right now it’s somewhere in the yahoo/google netherworld (LOL).
Is there someone on here that can give me some insight or know of anyone that coud give me insight on how I can get my local website on the front
page of a Yahoo or Google search to increase my business without it costing me 5 or 10k $$$? If so please share with me.

Hi Sabir, it depends, what type of business do you want to start? Only when I know what will I be able to help you more, although starting a blog would probably help regardless of the niche.

i want to setup an Online Business with a credit card processor and i am still researching about it. my current online business is just selling handbags and some stuffs on e-bay.
online business is the future of making money. the rising number of internet users would mean that there would be more online transactions and online business oppurtunities.

I can see that this site offers a lot of advice on business ideas. I have been following the topics for quite some time now. The thing is that I’ve always wanted to start my own business but due to lack of fund including also the fear of failure, all that has prevented me from moving forward. I hope you understand, it’s a hard earned money and basically you can’t simply use a trial and error approach to learn from it. If you were me, what you would do? How to put on the courage and tell yourself to just do it anyway. Anything I have to watch out for?

Mohd Rehman asked a very general business. To start a biz, you dont just snap your finger and say you want to start a biz.
You need to ask yourself these Qs I believe:
1) what industry do you want to be in? online or offline business? or both?
2) do you have passion for those potential business? if not, you wont last.
3) Who are your customers? Local or overseas? Age group? geo location? other criterias?
4) How much fund do you need? where can you source for it without paying heavy interests from bank? parents ? relatives?
5) when do you expect to make a profit? and return the loan?
6) is it labour intensive? or not?
7) what is your overhead costs monthly? etc etc etc…
so there, only then will you be able to decide what biz you want to be in.
