5 Tips To Improve Your Adsense Income

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Making money online with Adsense is easy to some and hard to others. It’s the simplest to implement but not everyone can make hundreds of dollars a day from Adsense whereas others can.

Those that can make it have benefited from some of the tips I’m sharing with you below:

Concentrate on one Ad format

A good ad format size that has been proven to work is the large rectangle (336×280) format with the highest click through rates (CTR). Because of the real estate it takes up, the sentences and links look like they are part of the site and are more likely to be clicked by your readers.

Create a custom palette of colours

Choose colours that blend well with the background of your site, for example having a white background, you should try and use a white border and background for your Google Adsense advert. You want to make the Adsense box look as blended into the site as possible.

Put adverts near the top

Put adverts ‘above the fold’ or near the top of the page where they can be easily seen by your visitors. Placing your adverts near the bottom of your site is pointless unless you are sure that’s where your visitors look the most.

Try automating Adsense placement

Using something to automate where you Adsense code appears makes it much less of a hassle as you won’t need to modify your website code or manually insert it anywhere. Try the whydowork adsense plugin you can find on my recommended plugins page.

There are many other tips you could try using to improve you Adsense earnings, but these few will help you get started. I’ll put more tips when I find them, but my suggestion? Take action and see what results you get.

If the results are good, keep it. If not, go back to the original. But you’ll never know which is better until you try right? If you want to make money online you’ve got to take action!

How To Make Money On The Internet? Try Google Adsense.

google-adsense-1

Google Adsense is possibly the simplest and easiest monetization strategy to implement on your website or blog. (Although not necessarily the easiest way to make money online)

Google Adsense is simple enough to understand. Google charges advertisers to advertise on their search and content networks via Google Adwords. The publisher (that’s you and me, the owner’s of the website/blog) put a small piece of java script on the pages we want our adverts to show.

Each time the page is loaded, the java script pulls ads from the Adsense network which it thinks are targeted to the content of the page. This is done by going through the keywords used on the page and comparing them to the keywords used by the advert.

If a visitor to your site clicks on one of these adverts, you get paid money. That’s all there is to it.

N/B: You can also get paid per 1000 impressions, but that’s another beast altogether.

Google handles all the tracking, payments and selection of adverts, so that the most targeted (and hence most likely to be clicked) adverts are put on your website.

The first reason that Google Adsense is essential to sites that provide alot of informative content is that through the past few years of development and improvement, the system is now more customizable than ever.

You can place adverts in content, in your site search and even in your RSS feed (new).

The ability to customize the colours of your adverts to match your site is very important as unlike what some people think, an advert is more likely to be clicked if it looks a part of the site. This can potentially increase the amount of money you make with the Adsense program.

Secondly, Google Adsense allows you to track exactly which site is making you money (through channels) so that if you are testing changes to the positioning of adverts, or even just a change in colour, you can see if it’s brining in more clicks (and hence more money) or if your changes are not working.

You can therefore quickly assess changes you are making, for better or for worse and modify as needed.

Lastly, advertisers are now understanding just how powerful advertising on targeted websites is and hence there is more chance that a product/service being advertised on your site is highly targeted to your audience. This gives another chance that someone will click on the link and make you more money.

The key to Google Adsense is to make your content as targeted as possible. Take for instance this article, it’s about how to make money on the internet as well as Google Adsense.

Depending on which country you are reading this from, there is a very high chance that the advert you see (either on the bottom of this post or at the top right of the post) is related to either making money online or Google Adsense.

Some bloggers are guilty of rambling on their blog. If your ramblings are interesting enough and people read your content because of your opinions, then keep rambling. But if you are trying to draw people to make money, then choose your words more carefully, it will help in your Adsense income as well as your SEO in the long term.

101 High Paying Adsense Keywords

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

The term ‘Adsense’ is defined as: a Google system of advertising for blogs and other websites. Subscribers can insert fairly unobtrusive Google ads and earn revenue from the users who view the ads or click on them. The ads are targeted to the keywords on the web page. – about.com

Google Adsense High Paying Keywords

For a typical blogger or website owner, we make money when someone clicks on one of the Google Ads on our site, or per 1000 impressions of the Adsense links. For most of us, we already know how hard it is to get people to click on these links and even if they do, sometimes the chosen ads are low paying ones because of the keywords used on our page.

So to help maximize profits, here is a list of 101 high paying Google Adsense words you can try and use to target the keywords in your content to. It is assuming that as the website owner, you will receive roughly 50% of the total cost per click that Google charges its advertisers, but you should check this with Google to find out the actual value (if they’ll tell you).
