A Free Online Business? Is There Such A Thing?

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Is there really such a think as a ‘Free Online Business’? I ask this because alot of people land on my site searching for those very terms. What do you mean when you say ‘free online business’?

Are you asking if online business is free to setup? Well if that’s the case, then the answer is yes, it can be set up for free. Just try setting up a blogger account, start populating it with information, place some ways to make money on your website and you’re done!

It may be free, but it’s not going to be easy.

Anything free usually comes with a catch. And in the case of most Internet marketers I know, this catch comes in the form of time.

We trade time to save money, the more of our own time we use, the more money we can save.

But if we trade money to save time, the more traffic we can get, in the form of traffic in a short amount of time.

Nothing in life is really ‘free’ especially when it comes to making money online or starting a business in general.

Making Millions Online – All Just Hype?

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Creating any old website online doesn’t mean you’ll become an Internet millionaire. Not everyone who tries can do it.

Although there are plenty of success stories out there, you still have to use your common sense. Those millionaires chose a need in a market segment and created something to fill it.

Their business made sense. (Except that guy who made the million pixel page)

Are there Internet millionaires out there?

Of course ther are, just think Google, E-bay, Amazon, Digg.com, Engadget and a host of other websites. That’s your proof.

With so many websites out there, is it possible to become one too?

Well of course it is, but it’s not going to be easy. You need to fill a need that your target market segment are asking for.

The Internet is a great way to sell products and services, and alot of people have made a great deal of money online this way.

Some comapnies operate completely off the Internet. Think some of those design companies that exclusively do Elance jobs. There are some very rich companies on that website!

Before e-bay there were no auction sites, before Amazon no online book selling sites. But look how successful those sites are now.

Internet millionaires start with an idea and make it into reality. They make their product/service stand out from the rest. They believe in their idea so much they risk their own money and other people’s money to bring their idea to life.

They then make their business so big that the competition doesn’t worry them at all.

Can you take that risk?

If you want to be one too, you’ll need to find a market that is largely untapped. You’ll then have to take some financial risks to get your idea out onto the Web.

If it works, you might become rich, if not, you might lose all your money.

I ask you again, can you take that risk?

Well I’m gonna try, who’s with me?

Why Start An Online Business In Malaysia? Or Anywhere?

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Why should anyone start an online business in Malaysia, or anywhere in the world for that matter? I’ve got a stable job, it pays pretty good and it puts food on the table and a roof over my head. Where there are a few reasons, let me go through a few of them.

You Can Start an Online Business From Home

Unlike most other types of businesses, an online business can be started not only form home, but part time as well. You don’t have to give up that 9 – 5 job that you are secure with, you can just do things after work, from the comforts of your home.

It allows you to add to your revenue and who knows, maybe one day it’ll be so successful you’ll be able to do it full time? But that’s not for all people, so take it slow, try starting simple, like a blog, or a small ebay site.

There’s no hurry, the internet will be around for some time to come.

You Can Save On Taxes (Cause You Don’t Need To Pay Tax)

OK, this statement is a little controversial, as here in Malaysia, the tax law is a bit grey in terms of internet businesses. On top of that, with some shoddy departments, there are plenty of businesses who don’t pay their taxes even when they should.

I did send an email to the tax department to see if an internet business should pay tax or not, and in their reply they said we have to declare all money made as taxable income. But I suspect that this is not the case when you get a cheque in the mail from Google etc.

It’s almost like asking you to declare tax if your Dad who works in another country sends you a birthday card with a cheque in it. Would you?

I need to find out more about this as I’m going to be doing a lot of internet marketing and when I make money (hopefully) I need to see if I have to pay tax.

If anybody has any ideas on this, please do leave a comment and let me know.

It’s Fun

Let’s face it, outside of work, we may not hang out or socialize with all that many people. You may have lost touch with your old school friends, or they might just be in other parts of the country or even the world.

With Internet Marketing (such as this blog) you get to interact with people who share similar interests with you. You get to talk to people around the world about things that you feel passionate about, what could be better than that?

So why not start a blog, an ebay site or something easy like that? You may end up liking it and making some good money too. Who knows?

Let me know how it goes,
