Why Online Advertising Has Such Huge Potential In Malaysia

Online advertising in Malaysia is by far one of the most potent, yet under-utilized advertising methods available to us today.

In any developed country, search engine results will be crowded with advertising, covering any range of topic you can imagine. Dentists? They own websites, they advertise online too. Plumbers? Yup, in other parts of the world they’d be advertising online as well.

And I don’t mean one or two businesses, I mean tens if not hundreds of different businesses are fighting for space on the world’s biggest billboard, Google.

There’s So Much Empty Room

Let’s do a quick example, why don’t we start with a Google search for the term ‘Dentists Malaysia’. This is what we’ll get:

You see the advertising on the top and right of the screen? 2 of the results are from Bangkok, the other is from Singapore and the one that looks like it’s from Malaysia is actually a business directory of dentists in Malaysia.

None of them actually link to a dentist website within Malaysia itself.

I may not know exactly how much money dentists make here, but I’m sure it’s quite a large sum – larger still if they could tap into online advertising.

That’s the problem and a good problem at that, which we have here in Malaysia – people just aren’t’ advertising online.

There’s just so much white space surrounding our search results, white space which should be full of businesses trying to get people to come visit their site, to ask for some information, to make a sale.

But they aren’t.

It’s Cheap, Why Aren’t You Doing It?

One of my pet peeves about regular businesses here is that they are traditionally set in their ways. They’d rather spend thousands on newspaper adverts, magazine adverts and worst of all those brochures that they put under your wind screen wiper.

I’ve seen people drive away in the rain, wind screen wiper on, with the brochure attached being swept across the glass. Is that what you call marketing?

Advertising online, especially in Malaysia, will probably cost you between RM0.1 to RM0.2 per click. So for a measly RM100 you could get anywhere between 1000 to 2000 visitors. Imagine if you used the same RM1000 on online advertising as you did for your brochure – 10,000 guaranteed visitors.

You see, the difference between regular media and search engine marketing is that in regular media, you play by numbers and hope for the best. Your magazine or newspaper may have a readership of 100,000, but how many of them will actually read your advert?

For online advertising, you are guaranteed that not only will they read your advert, they’ll click the link and visit your website too. No click, no charge, it’s as simple as that.

Don’t worry, it’s not too late to start.

Don’t have a website yet? Don’t worry, I know a good web designer as well.

How many Malaysians actually use Internet to search for dentist in Malaysia? Personally, my view is currently all the established Malaysian businesses entities are owned and managed by folks in the late forties and older. Most of them are not IT savvy and they do not strongly believe in online marketing. They are ll on the verge of retiring. If they do have a website, most of them are badly set up with ill-informed content. How many of them actively use blogs or social media to promote or market their stuff or service?

    Hi Lim,

You make a very good point about Malaysian businesses and their reluctance to use the Internet and this is in large part because they are still run by the baby boomer generation. They haven’t yet passed over the business to their kids to run and for those who do have websites, they barely do anything to help promote their brand.

However, I’m certain that this is only going to change in time and as regular advertising is expensive, they are more likely to come over to the ‘Online Marketing’ side :)

As for how many people search for dentists online in Malaysia – almost 1,000,000 searches a month. Use the Google keyword tool and check under the column ‘local search volume’

Hye William, talking bout internet advertising, here I would like to share some information with you. For the first time in Internet history, someone has combined a results based Internet advertising service (‘Cost-Per-Action’) with a free to join income opportunity (‘Paid-Per-Action’). VCGW will revolutionize both the Internet advertising industry and the home business industry, with this unique service and opportunity.

What makes VCGW different when compared to other online advertising sources like social media and/or search engines, is that VCGW shares the revenues with both the users and the affiliate partners (the entreprenuers – ‘YOU’). That’s right, our company pays it’s users for their actions (searches, completing forms, trying free products, providing opinions, etc.), offers a very simple yet lucrative business opportunity for entrepreneurs and provides online marketers with risk-free laser targeted advertising solutions that are 100% guaranteed to get them results.

Most, if not all the ‘other’ search engines, social media sites and other advertising sources keep all of the advertising revenues for themselves and never give any to their users (the people that actually create the market and profits). They are making billions off of the actions of others and keeping it all.

Now, who other than VCGW gives its users and affiliate partners a healthy share of all the revenues and profits?

Google? Yahoo? Bing? Facebook? YouTube? Not even close.

According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IBA), over $10 Billion in the United States alone was spent on Internet advertising in just the first 3 months of 2010.

With VCGW you have the opportunity to grab your piece of the multi-billion dollar Internet advertising industry with the VCGW affiliate program and/or our free ‘Paid-Per-Action’ program. And if you have something to advertising, starting after pre-launch you will be able to use our ‘Pay-Per-Action’ services to get a desired guaranteed action based on what you select (sales, leads, purchases, sponsorships, etc.).

Hi Hafiz, thanks for the info, although your comment looks like spam.

I’ve removed your affiliate link at the bottom.
