Are Your Business Details Overriding Your Goals?

Are you focusing too much on the details instead of the goals of your business? Details can kill an online business if you’re careless about them.

How can focusing too much on the details hurt the business? We tend to look in the short term, working off the seat of our pants to make sure the business keeps on moving and surviving.

But what that encourages is for us to forget what our goals were in the first place. Did you start the business just to survive for a year or two or did you have grand plans to grow and become something big?

Well you’ll have to remember where you’re going, not just where you are. It’s just as important. Given the choice between dealing with predictable facts and details or dealing with unpredictable human nature, most of us will jump at dealing with facts any time.

But that just gets us stuck staring at our own feet as our feet inexplicably slip off the track. The only way to stay on track is by looking toward your ultimate goal: you helping people solve some problem in return for them repaying you fairly for the time and effort you put into it.

Online marketing, or Internet marketing can be quite a complex thing to some, quite simple to others. There are many methods of doing it out there, but what do you think are the essentials things that you need to do? Let yourself be the judge:

  1. If you already have an existing customer base, to sell more back end products to them. You’ve already built the trust, so why no build on that as you’ve got the credibility.
  2. Upsell to new customers. Make it a habit to offer something a little bit better for a higher price. If they decide to buy the original product, then offer them something else.
  3. Use other businesses out there to cross promote products that aren’t your direct competition. This will enable you to reach a larger audience at a lower cost.
  4. JV (Joint Venture) with other Internet marketers/ businesses. Same as above, you’ll be able to create a much better profit margin as your costs are less.
  5. Offer an affiliate program for you product or service. You may not need to advertise again if you offer an attractive enough product, as your affiliates to the brunt of this cost.
  6. Barter/ trade with other businesses if you don’t have the revenue to buy advertising. Trade banner adverts, e-zine ads, links etc.
  7. Out source. This can save on employee costs (for most countries), equipments costs, tax, expansion and other miscellaneous costs that come with having a workforce.
  8. Give things away free with your offer that have a high perceived value. This can be in the form of books, members only area, e-reports and more.
  9. Viral marketing can get your business all over the Internet in a very very fast way. Give free things away in your advert and encourage people to give it away as well.
  10. Use an auto responder to follow up with all your prospects. It can be a newsletter, an ezine, an update or even just a reminder list. Don’t let them get away!

Hopefully some of these tips help you in your affiliate marketing tasks. There’s alot of power in Internet marketing for online businesses and I believe everyone should give it a try.
